The Passion Recut

I found this via Christifideles. I wasn't kidding when I told you to read that weblog.

Apparently, Mel Gibson isn't satisfied with humiliating Hollywood last year making hundreds of millions of dollars on a film they sneered at — while their usual smut struggled to break even. Now, he's releasing a new version of The Passion, recut. In an introduction on the web site, Gibson says that the new film will be 5-6 minutes shorter, with a lot of the intensity removed.

I think it's a great idea, but as I wrote in an essay before I started blogging, it would be a far better film if he expanded on the interesting side stories in the film that lent some insight into his relationship with his mother, and with the apostles.

Not that I'm any less likely to see it if he doesn't.
