Where love of Christ must lead us

From today's reading at Mass:

"Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that [Jesus] had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep. Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."
Although the love of Christ necessarily leads in this direction, this place where we do not want to go is not the destination; it is merely a gateway.

Pie Iesu Domine,
dona eis requiem,
sempiternam requiem.
Tender Lord Jesus,
grant them rest,
eternal rest.

Author's philosophy

If Christianity is true, Christians have nothing to fear from the truth. Readers put up with modest translations of hymns and poems from Latin and Italian and the immodest exposition of my undeveloped thoughts, religious and otherwise. See the label index below for more.

Liturgical quote

from the Memorial of St. Agnes, Virgin and Martyr

Ecce, venio ad te quem amavi, quem quæsivi, quem semper optavi.

(Behold, I come to you whom I have loved, whom I have sought, whom I have long preferred.)
...et cantabant quasi canticum novum ante sedem et ante quattuor animalia et seniores et nemo poterat discere canticum nisi illa centum quadraginta quattuor milia qui empti sunt de terra — Revelation 14.3 (in English)
