Strange standards for holocaust denial

If you deny the Holocaust and promise to wipe Israel off the map, but are a leader of a state that sponsors terrorism and scoffs at international conventions, then, our intelligentsia tell us, you should be engaged, and brought into the conversation.

If you deny the Holocaust, and are a leader of a schismatic sect of Catholics who by and large are distinguished for nothing more than their disdain for modern customs and practices, then, our intelligentsia tell us, you should not be given the time of day—let alone engaged, or brought into any kind of conversation.

In fact, the second character is currently attracting more opprobrium than the first. Go figure.
