Just when I buy a missal...

I've waited years for the American bishops to approve a new Mass text. I finally broke down and bought a missal for my boy to follow Mass last Sunday. Yesterday, the news announced that the bishops had finally approved the new Mass text.

Sigh. Some stories have noted that the new text should take some years yet for implementation, because now it has to go to the Vatican, which is notorious for its glacial pace. While that's true, the Vatican has shown speed when it's interested in certain changes, and the Vatican has made it clear that they are not pleased with the current English translation. Since we've been stuck with it for more than three decades already, that would seem glacial enough.
